John Gordon Buchanan (1896-1956) ( in the Isle of Man )

The arms grant is an Irish one granted in 1938 and listed G.O. MS. Folio 97.
The arms appear to have been in the family for many years and not registered.

John Gordon Buchanan is shown as the son of John Buchanan of Dewsbury in Yorkshire and grandson of George Buchanan, Esquire, third son of Bever Buchanan, Esquire.

He was a Surveyor of Excise at  Strangford and Downpatrick.

A Dr. George Buchanan of Downpatrick who was  a surgeon to the Royal Infirmary, Co. Down, who appears to be connected with the family of Dr. George Buchanan of Fintona.

Beaver Buchanan of Fintona, born 1710, is descended from William Buchanan last of Blairvockie who settled in Ireland.  Blairvockie is a small farm located near the shores of Loch Lomond.

The Arms: Or, a lion rampant Sable, armed and langued Gules, within a double tressure flory and
Counterflory Azure.

The Crest: On a wreath of branches of laurel, disposed orleways proper,
Mantling Gules, doubled Argent.

John Buchanan was the son of John Buchanan, internal revenue officer, (1832, Ireland – 1910, Dewsbury, Yorkshire) and Susan Ann Donohoo (1843-1888).

John Buchanan was the son of Dr George Buchanan of Downpatrick (c1800, Dublin, Ireland – 1841, Doenpatrick, Ireland) and Ann Wright (unk. – c. 1843).

Dr George Buchanan was the son of Bever Buchanan, Apothecary of Dublin (1775, Fintona, Ireland – 1813, Dublin, Ireland) and Elinor Hogson.

Bever Buchanan was the son of Dr George Buchanan of Fintona (1740-1818) and Ann Mullen, son of
