Herbert Blackwood Buchanan of Arden (1749-1825)
This family are descended from Buchanan of Carbeth and are therefore cadets of Drummakill.
Thomas Buchanan first of Carbeth was the second son of Thomas Buchanan of Gartincaber and Drummakill. He had a conveyancing from his father of the lands of Carbeth 31 March 1482 and was dead before 1493.
The arms are recorded in Lyon Register Volume 1, Page 561, 11 March 1793.
